Early Learning Multnomah
We believe every child can be successful in school. But—too often—race, ethnicity and language are predictors of poverty and low rates of school success. Our existing system of social services, schools, and community supports isn't set up to effectively serve children and families of color. We want to change that. We work hard to ensure children of color age six and under get what they need to thrive in kindergarten and beyond. We build partnerships, set family-driven priorities, spark shifts in thinking, and support our partners to more effectively serve children and families of color in Multnomah County.

The mission of The Oregon Community Foundation is to improve lives for all Oregonians through the power of philanthropy. We work with individuals, families, businesses and organizations to create charitable funds — more than 2,800 of them — that support the community causes they care about. These funds support the critical work that nonprofits are doing across Oregon. Through these funds, OCF awarded more than $118 million in grants and scholarships in 2017.

WINGS for Kids (Charleston, SC)
Our mission is to equip at-risk kids with the skills they need to succeed in school, stay in school, and thrive in life. Since our beginnings in 1996, we have focused exclusively on working with low-income children by providing a safe place to stay after school and teaching them skills to succeed in school. We aren’t just providing care after school and we aren’t just teaching “soft-skills.” We are teaching skills that can radically change how they relate to others and behave in school. We are providing inspiration to do well in school and to stay in school. We are instilling in them a belief in possibilities – that they can be anything they want to be. We are giving them hope for a bright future. We are teaching them that they have wings to SOAR!
